AirGuard Terms of Service
Last updated: September 4, 2026
Before you rely on AirGuard, read this
AirGuard is an information tool. It is not a substitute for official emergency alerts, evacuation orders, public-health instructions, or your local authorities. Environmental data can be delayed, incomplete, preliminary, or wrong. Satellite fire detections in particular are informational and may contain uncertainty — never use them to decide that a road or an area is safe. During an emergency, follow the instructions of the relevant authorities.
These Terms govern your use of the AirGuard mobile app ("AirGuard", "the app"). By using AirGuard you agree to them. If you do not agree, do not use the app.
1. What AirGuard is
AirGuard displays modelled air-quality data, confirmed wildfire incidents and perimeters, mapped smoke plumes, weather, a short air-quality forecast, and general educational guidance. It keeps these concepts distinct — a measurement is not a forecast, a satellite detection is not a confirmed incident, and a perimeter is not a hazard boundary. All data comes from the third-party sources named in the Privacy Policy, and the app names its source on every environmental screen.
2. Independent application
AirGuard is not affiliated with, endorsed by, authorized by, or operated by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, AirNow, the U.S. Forest Service, NOAA, or any other government agency. Government and public environmental information shown in the app is obtained or adapted from the listed sources.
3. No medical or safety advice
Air-quality guidance in AirGuard is general and educational. It does not tell you that conditions are personally medically safe for you, and it is not a diagnosis or treatment recommendation. If you have a health condition affected by air quality, follow the advice of a qualified professional.
4. Acceptable use
- Use AirGuard for personal, non-commercial informational purposes.
- Do not scrape, resell, or redistribute the third-party data feeds through the app in violation of those providers' terms.
- Do not attempt to disrupt the app or the services it depends on.
5. Availability & changes
AirGuard is provided free of charge and "as is." Data providers may change, rate-limit, or discontinue their feeds at any time, which can make parts of the app temporarily or permanently unavailable. We may update, suspend, or discontinue the app or any feature without notice.
6. Disclaimer & limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, AirGuard is provided without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including accuracy, completeness, timeliness, or fitness for a particular purpose. We are not liable for any loss or harm arising from your use of, or reliance on, the app or its data, including any decision made or not made during an emergency.
7. Changes to these Terms
We may revise these Terms as the app changes. We will update the "Last updated" date above, and continued use of the app after a change means you accept the revised Terms.
